365 day challenge - day 7

I can't believe it's only been one week since I started this "challenge"...this is going to be much harder than I thought it would be!

From my first post (on January 1), I got this idea from a blogger I follow. She tried this same challenge and said she made it 100 days...now I see why she "only" made it 27% of the way.

365 day challenge - day 7 (doing some deep thinking today)

P.S. - woke up at 4:14am this morning to work at 5:00am...further realized while I was working how much my new venture is needed, and how well the service will work if (and when) executed correctly. Huge steps will be taken over the next 90 days to get us launched by this summer.

additional quotes...photos of the day:

The virtue of all achievement is victory over oneself.  Those who know this can never know defeat.

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

365 day challenge - day 5

11:03pm now, which means I'm still 5 for 5 on my 365 day challenge (just barely!). spent most of the morning with my mom today, then worked from noon to 7pm, then got a chance to hang out with one of my best friends tonight and watch the Vikings vs. Packers playoff game. Although, the Vikings decided not to show up to the game and it was more than anti-climatic.

365 day challenge - day 4

one of the funnest things about my new project is paying more attention to my personal style. Today I decided to wear one of my favorite new pieces - a 1960's vintage Kim Chi tailored jacket. I bought it at Blacklist Vintage in Minneapolis during MN Fashion Week 2012 for $35...love this coat!

365 days of 2013 - day 2

crazy busy day today...woke up at 4:30am, worked from 6:00am - 9:00am, rushed to the canyon to change for a meeting from 10:30am (thru lunch) to 3:00pm, rushed back to my parents house to change, worked from 4:00am - 7:00pm and am now at my parents house having dinner.

I can tell on day's like today that this "365 day challenge" will not be easy, but for now I'm batting 1,000 as following you will find today's self portrait:

365 days of 2013

January 1, 2013 - Happy New Year!

I have to say I am exultant to be putting 2012 in my rearview mirror ("happy" or "very happy" just didn't work here, so I had to go with "exultant" filled with or expressing great joy or triumph).  Although, with time, I believe I will look back at 2012 as a turning point in my life...for the better.  But right now it feels like I just survived the year...because in 2012 the following things were part of my life:

- sold my home of 10 years
- sold most of my belongings (except for the most personal)
- lost my consulting job
- ended a 6 year relationship (which ended in a way I won't disclose here...I'll just say it was a painfully difficult ending)
- closed the business I started in 2007
- moved from a city, and away from friends, I have lived in since 1994 (18 years)

I'm not saying these things for pity (I know there are others that have it much more difficult than I), I'm just stating the facts in closing the door on 2012.

Now that I've said that, let's look forward to and plan for 2013...

I first started this blog last year with the goal to live up to my thought of << каждый день >>, or "every day"...bringing something new every day. Because, as we all should learn at some point in our lives, we only get to be and become our true selves by the effort we make everyday. I didn't do a great job of posting every day after I started this blog, but I was reviewing the blogs that I follow the other day and found this post from Elsie at "A Beautiful Mess" right after Christmas:

http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2012/12/lets-try-a-365-project-.html

That post gave me new goals for this year (1) post a self-portrait here every day and (2) renew my goal to share a new thought or idea here every day. So, without further adieu, let's start 2013...
