Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia (ATN) - Prevalence and Incidence
It is reported that 150,000 people are diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia every year. While the disorder can occur at any age, it is most common in people over the age of 50. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke notes that trigeminal neuralgia is more common in women than in men. Additionally, there is evidence that the disorder runs in families, likely as a result of an inherited blood vessel formation. Hypertension and multiple sclerosis also are risk factors.(1)

Fundraising
Thank you to everyone who donated or shared Mitch's GoFundMe Campaign yesterday.

Mitch and I have been discussing this fundraising campaign periodically over the last couple months, as he only has a couple good hours a day and spends that time with his wife and boys (and as anyone from the Midwest knows, it doesn’t come easy to ask for help).

Back on March 20th, I posted to Facebook and Twitter that I will be running the 50 Miler of the Black Hills 100 race on June 27th. Now I can say why: I will be running 50 miles in the Black Hills 100 to raise awareness for Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia (ATN) and to help with the fundraising campaign for Mitch, Jennifer, Hayden (8), Connor (6) and Mason (3).
